We are thrilled to have Javier Moreno as our November artist of the month! His pen & ink work add a welcome dimension to our normal display of original oil and acrylic paintings.
Javier was raised in the Redwoods of Northern California and was involved in drawing and painting at a very early age. Selling several flower drawings in his community gave him the the confidence to continue drawing. He continued to take art classes throughout high school and achieved "Male Artist of the Year" his senior year.
After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps and moved to Cherry Point, North Carolina. He later married Wendy Ballenger Moreno and moved to New Bern where they have been living since 1992. Javier's wife, Wendy, has always motivated him to continue his passion for art. His pen and ink drawings have been recognized for special awards locally and throughout the country. He most recently recieved the Advanced Design Award for his "Botas Givenchy" piece at the 20th Anniversary Arts and Harmony Show in Minnesota.
"Art is all around us, and the more I look at the objects and sceneries, I realize that there are masterpieces that are just waiting to get on the canvas."
